Reducing Discomfort
This therapy uses electrical current to reduce swelling, relieve pain and stimulate muscle. Interferential applies two different frequencies that interfere with one another to produce a medium frequency current within the tissues.
IFT is known to be an effective technique to strengthen muscles. The beat frequency currents produced by the machines stimulate muscle contraction which helps reduce inflammation, bruising, strain, and spasms. Further, stimulating the tissue increases metabolism, flexibility, movement, and circulation.
During an IFT treatment session, the electrodes are placed on the skin over the affected area. The electrical current is then delivered through the electrodes and into the body. The patient may feel slight tingling or buzzing, but the treatment should not be painful.
IFT is often used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as back, neck, and joint pain. It can also treat arthritis, edema, and sports injuries. However, IFT is not recommended for everyone and should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Ultrasound Therapy
Many people know ultrasound as an imaging tool that allows doctors to see inside the body. It can also be therapeutic, promoting tissue healing and treating pain. Ultrasound therapy is a non-invasive treatment in which sound waves are used to penetrate soft tissues, increasing blood flow.
This can help relieve pain, improve circulation, and promote tissue healing. Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to create heat and movement in body tissue. It can treat various conditions, often in conjunction with other treatments.
